As we approach closer to the Malaysian launch of the Proton S70 – which is expected to happen sometime in November next month – an image of what appears to be a production unit of the upcoming sedan has been posted online. On top of that, it’s in the (alleged) new Teal Bayou Green colour as well.
The shot below was shared by The Ajerul on Facebook. Though the image quality isn’t great, it’s our closest look yet at the rear design of the S70. Not surprisingly, it shares the same design elements as its donor model, the Geely Emgrand. The new green paint job looks quite good too, in our opinion.
Based on previous rumours, four different variants of the S70 will supposedly be offered. All of them are said to be powered by either a 1.5L MPI turbo engine (150PS/226Nm) or a more powerful 1.5L TGDi turbo mill (177PS/255Nm); two turbocharged engines that are found in the X50 lineup. The sedan is rumoured to be sporting a large 12.3-inch full LCD meter as well.
The Proton S70 is largely believed – and kind of confirmed by Proton’s own CEO – to be launched sometime in November 2023 next month. We’ll find out then the pricing and final name of the highly anticipated sedan, which has been previously referred to as the S50.
