First spotted a couple of weeks ago, the Tesla Supercharger at Sunway Pyramid is now operational! The station, which offers four charging stalls, is now marked as available on the Tesla app.

Of course, the Tesla app also shows the pricing structure of the Supercharger. Not surprisingly, it follows the same fees as the Supercharger in Pavilion Kuala Lumpur. It costs RM1.25 per kWh – quite a competitive rate for a fast DC charger – and up to RM4 in idle fees.

Idle fees are unique to Tesla Superchargers, which will be billed to customers who leave their EV connected to the charger when it is already fully charged. For this Sunway Pyramid Supercharger, a RM2 idle fee is charged per minute, and it goes up to RM4 per minute if the station is fully occupied. To avoid being charged idle fees, you will need to disconnect the charger within five minutes of charging completion.

It’s worth noting that the Tesla Supercharger at Sunway Pyramid will only be open to Tesla vehicles, though selected Superchargers in the future will be usable by non-Tesla EVs. After all, it was previously revealed that Tesla will install at least 50 DC fast chargers in Malaysia (with a minimum charging rate of 180kW), and 30% of them have to be made available to non-Tesla vehicles.
