Just yesterday we got a full, undisguised look at Proton’s upcoming sedan, the Proton S70. It was previously believed to be dubbed Proton S50, and now, we have yet another image of the new model with a different paint job.
The undisguised S70 in red – which is likely the X50‘s signature Passion Red colour – was first shared by Facebook user Muhamad Shamim on the Paultan.org Automotive/Car Discussion Group. Though the resolution of the image isn’t particularly great, there’s no mistaking the silhouette of the car for the S70, which is based on the Geely Emgrand.
Based on previous rumours, four different variants of the S70 will supposedly be offered. All of them are said to be powered by the familiar 1.5L TGDi engine that outputs 177PS and 255Nm of torque, which is the same mill found under the hood of the X50 and X70. It is rumoured to be sporting a large 12.3-inch full LCD meter as well.
The Proton S70 is largely believed – and sort of confirmed by Proton’s own CEO – to be launched sometime in November 2023 next month. We’ll find out then the final name and (more importantly) pricing of the highly anticipated sedan.
