2023 Toyota Yaris Updated for Malaysia – Larger Infotainment Screen, Up to RM4.7k Price Hike

UMW Toyota Motor (UMWT) has updated the Toyota Yaris yet again for the Malaysian market. This time around, the B-segment hatchback gets a larger infotainment screen, new skirtings, as well as several dual-tone paint finishes with a blacked-out roof.

Two variants of the Yaris continue to be offered; the base 1.5J model was discontinued back in May this year. What remains are the 1.5E and range-topping 1.5G variants, which are now priced at RM88,000 (up by RM4,700) and RM91,600 (up by RM4,000) respectively. These prices are on-the-road without insurance, and a five-year unlimited mileage warranty is included.

For that kind of money, the new Yaris does get a number of design changes and creature comforts. It has updated front and rear skirtings now, and the infotainment screen with native Apple CarPlay and Android Auto is now a larger 9-inch display. A front dashcam also comes as standard now.

Beyond that, the updated Yaris soldiers on with the same Dual VVT-i 2NR-FE 1.5L engine found in the previous model. It outputs 107PS and 140Nm of torque, with drive sent to the front wheels by a continuously variable transmission (CVT) with a seven-speed Shiftmatic mode.

Toyota Safety Sense is still offered with the Yaris, which includes two major features: Pre-Collision System (PCS) and Lane Departure Alert (LDA). The former warns the driver and automatically applies the brakes when there’s a risk of frontal collision, while LDA alerts the driver when the car is getting out of lane.

The Toyota Yaris is now available for booking at all Toyota dealerships and UMWT branches nationwide. The B-segment hatchback is still offered in three distinct colours – Red Mica Metallic, Platinum White Pearl, and Silver Metallic – though the former two options are available with a blacked-out roof too.
