Also updated with a USB-C connector is Apple’s popular 2nd generation AirPods Pro; more specifically, its charging case. Aside from the port change, the earbuds themselves are also more durable now with an IP54 rating – an upgrade from the previous Lightning model’s IPX4 rating.
Basically, the USB-C AirPods Pro gains dust resistance, though other specifications of the wireless earbuds remain the same. These include the H2 chip for “up to double the noise-cancelling power” of the original AirPods Pro, along with a total of up to six hours of use with ANC activated.
It’s worth noting that with iOS 17 – which is set to be released on 18 September next week – the AirPods Pro will get a slew of new features. Adaptive Audio will adjust the noise control of the earbuds based on the environment, while Conversation Awareness, as its name suggests, will lower the volume and enhance voices in front of the user when said user starts speaking.
Naturally, the 2nd generation AirPods Pro with the new USB-C charging case retains the RM1,099 price tag in Malaysia. But much like other products announced by Apple today – with the exception of the iPhones 15 lineup – it is not available for purchase on our shores just yet.
