Spy Shot: Proton X70 MC2 Facelift Spotted With New Infinite Weave Grille!
September 7, 2023 Andrew Cheng

It’s been a while since we’ve seen the Proton X70 MC2 (Minor Change 2) facelift on the road, but here it is! This is our closest look yet at the new front end of the upcoming SUV, which looks to mirror its Geely twins, the Boyue Pro and Azkarra. Of course, there’s also the new Infinite Weave grille!

The images below were taken by H+Z and subsequently shared by Funtasticko. Just as rumours have suggested, the new Infinite Weave grille does take inspiration from the X90’s diamond-shaped studs. The silhouette of the front end looks strikingly similar to the Boyue Pro and Azkarra as well, which isn’t exactly a surprise.

Aside from the updated exterior, the facelifted X70 is said to feature a new interior too, which we reckon will be similar to the aforementioned Boyue Pro and Azkarra. If this is indeed the case, it should feature a much bigger infotainment screen powered by Geely’s faster E01 SoC, chrome finishing on the air-cond vents, and redesigned climate controls.

As for expected release, the Proton X70 MC2 facelift is said to be introduced towards the end of the year or January 2024 after the launch of the much anticipated Proton S50 sedan. For the latter, it is (almost) confirmed for a November 2023 launch, with mass production rumoured to be beginning in October next month.

Interestingly, the Proton X50 is said to be receiving a Running Change update too, which may see some minor improvements to the popular B-segment SUV.
