Just days after PlayStation unveiled its new Pulse Elite wireless headphones and Pulse Explore wireless earbuds, the company announced that it is acquiring Audeze. The high-end audio brand is known for its range of planar headphones and earphones, which ties in nicely with PlayStation’s new audio line.

After all, the company specifically mentioned the use of custom-designed planar magnetic drivers for an “audiophile-level listening experience” with the $150 (about RM695) Pulse Elite and $200 Pulse Explore (around RM930). In the case of the latter, PlayStation says that it is one of the first companies to offer wireless earbuds with planar drivers.

Beyond that, the Pulse Explore and Pulse Elite both support low latency, lossless audio through the use of the new PlayStation Link wireless audio technology. They also feature AI-enhanced noise rejection to reduce background sounds, and in the case of the Elite, it even has a retractable boom mic.

It’s worth noting that with this acquisition, Audeze will still continue to operate independently while being a part of the PlayStation ecosystem. “The acquisition will strengthen SIE’s efforts to continue innovating when it comes to the audio experience of PlayStation games,” as the company puts it.
