The original Microsoft Surface Laptop Studio first made its debut in 2021, so it’s high time for the premium laptop to be refreshed. Well, we have good reason to believe that the (unreleased) Microsoft Surface Laptop Studio 2 will be coming to Malaysia very soon.
In our usual search through SIRIM’s database, we saw that the Surface Laptop Studio 2 was registered with the certification body by both Ingram Micro Malaysia and VSTECS Astar on 10 and 9 August respectively. Now that the laptop has appeared in SIRIM’s database, there’s a good chance it will be launched very soon.
One of the most unique features of the Surface Laptop Studio is its “Dynamic Woven Hinge,” which we expect to be carried over to the Laptop Studio 2. This hinge allows the laptop to transition between three modes: laptop, stage, and studio. Laptop is self-explanatory, while stage props up the display right behind the trackpad; much like Acer’s ConceptD 3 Ezel. As for studio, it’s basically transforming the laptop into a tablet.
Rumours suggest that the Surface Laptop Studio 2 will be quite powerful too. It’s believed to be powered by Intel’s latest 13th gen processors, with the most powerful configuration featuring an Nvidia GeForce RTX 4060 GPU. Some design improvements are expected as well.
At the time of writing, it remains to be seen exactly when the Microsoft Surface Laptop Studio 2 will be introduced. Given that it has been registered with SIRIM already, it’s safe to assume we’re close to the official unveiling of Microsoft’s next high-end, premium laptop.
