2023 Honda City Facelift Debuts in Malaysia – Price Increase Across the Board, From RM85k
August 10, 2023 Andrew Cheng

As promised, the 2023 Honda City facelift has just been launched in Malaysia! The updated B-segment sedan is introduced not long after the WR-V’s debut last month, and the facelifted City features a number of notable upgrades, including a more sophisticated Honda Sensing ADAS…and a price increase across the board.

But there is good reason for the price hike: Honda Sensing is now standard across the range. Just like the previous model, the new City is offered in five variants: S (RM84,900), E (RM89,900), V (RM94,900), RS (RM99,900, new to the range, replacing the V Sensing trim), and the range-topping e:HEV RS (RM111,900) hybrid model.

As mentioned, all variants of the City facelift now feature Honda Sensing ADAS capability, including the addition of Lead Car Departure Notification (LCDN). In the case of the e:HEV RS model, it even gets Low Speed Follow (LSF), making for a pretty darn complete ADAS.

Of course, the facelifted City has a number of design changes. For the petrol and e:HEV RS models, the two trims come with a new honeycomb front grille, rear diffuser, side skirting, as well as updated 16-inch dual-tone alloy wheels that look quite a bit sleeker than the previous design, in our opinion.

Oh, it’s worth noting that the RS models also get wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto now.

Under the hood, the new City soldiers on with the same powertrain options. In case of the e:HEV RS, it retains the Multi-Mode Drive (i-MMD) hybrid powertrain that delivers 109PS and 253Nm of torque. This variant also comes with a 1.5L four-cylinder engine that does 98PS and 127Nm of torque, but it mainly acts as a generator for the electric motor. The 1.5L mill is only used at higher speeds.

As for the four other petrol variants of the updated City – namely the S, E, V, and RS models – they are all powered by the same 1.5L DOHC i-VTEC engine that outputs 121PS and 145Nm of torque. It is paired to a CVT with drive sent to the front wheels.

The 2023 Honda City facelift is now available for booking at all 101 authorised Honda dealerships nationwide from RM84,900. Alternatively, pre-booking can be done online here, or through the HondaTouch app – it can be downloaded from the Apple App Store and Google Play Store.
