Genshin Impact‘s much anticipated Fontaine region is finally going live next week on 16 August with the Version 4.0 update. Not only will underwater gameplay be introduced in the update, three new characters from Fontaine will be playable too, including Lyney, Lynette, and Freminet.
Lyney is the only 5-star character of the bunch, while Lynette and Freminet are 4-star units. Lyney and Lynette will be featured in phase one of Genshin Impact 4.0’s event wish alongside Yelan, while Freminet will be available in the second phase in Tartaglia’s and Zhongli’s rerun banners.

This being a major update, Version 4.0 of Genshin Impact will kickstart the new Fontaine storyline as well as the addition of underwater gameplay; a first for the game. This makes sense, given that the “Nation of Justice” is surrounded by water and ruled by the current Hydro Archon, Focalors.
A slew of quality of life improvements are also coming to Genshin Impact 4.0. On PlayStation consoles, global illumination and motion sensor support (along with faster loading times) will be added. Hoyoverse will also introduce multi-layered map and new backgrounds in the party setup page.

The Version 4.0 of Genshin Impact will go live on 16 August next week. To recap, Lyney’s and Lynette’s banners will be offered first with Yelan’s rerun once the update drops, followed by Freminet’s debut alongside Tartaglia’s and Zhongli’s event wishes in the second phase at a later date.
