Proton continues to record respectable sales figures last month. With 13,326 units sold in July 2023 – domestic and export sales included – the national carmaker sees a 16.1% year-on-year improvement. On top of that, four Proton models also lead their respective segments.

Despite only being in the market for about three months now, the Proton X90 is already leading the D-segment SUV market. In July 2023 itself, 886 units were delivered, bringing the total number of X90 sold so far to 2,225 units.

Not surprisingly, the X50 continues to be the best-selling B-segment SUV in Malaysia. 2,630 units of the highly popular SUV were sold last month with a total of 20,192 units delivered in 2023. As for the Persona, it leads the B-segment sedan market with 1,953 units sold in July 2023 – 14,533 units in total for the year.

Lastly, the Exora is the C-segment MPV leader with 374 units sold last month for a total of 2,741 units sold in the first seven months of 2023. While the Saga isn’t leading the A-segment sedan market last month, it is still the carmaker’s best-selling model with 5,926 units delivered in July 2023; a total of 39,251 units have been sold throughout this year.

“In terms of percentages, our growth in sales is more than double of the industry thus far and this can be attributed to car buyers being attracted to the technology, quality, safety, and value offered by our model range,” said the deputy CEO of Proton, Roslan Abdullah.

“With the Proton X90 already leading its class after just three months, new model launches on the horizon and the company’s impending entry into the EV market in 2023 via smart Malaysia, we are confident of hitting our year-end targets,” he added.
