It’s believed that the Proton X70 (and even the X50) will be facelifted sometime this year, and it looks like the rumour is turning out to be true. New spy shots of the X70 covered in some light camouflage have surfaced, so it’s likely this is the 2023 facelift model.

These images were taken by one Fakhri Abdullah and shared by the folks over at Funtasticko. While only the rear of the mysterious X70 test mule was photographed, we can still see some camouflage on the front end of the C-segment SUV in the image below.

Chances are, the upcoming X70 facelift will take some design cues from its Geely twin, the Boyue Pro. The model was launched in China back in 2019 with some exterior and interior changes. In regards to the former, the Boyue Pro features a reworked front end with a new headlight design and a more minimalist rear bumper.

As for the interior, the Boyue Pro is equipped with a sleeker-looking dashboard. The infotainment screen is much bigger than the one found on the previous model – it also has Geely’s faster E01 SoC – chrome finishing on the air-cond vents, and redesigned climate controls.

Of course, it remains to be seen if the 2023 Proton X70 facelift will feature these changes. We reckon it will be a styling update rather than a major change, so no engine update is expected. Hopefully, we’ll learn more about the X70 facelift soon, and maybe even for the X50 as well.
