The Perodua Axia E is back, and it is more affordable than ever. Priced at only RM22,000 for both West and East Malaysia, the A-segment hatchback is the cheapest car in Malaysia, and it’s actually priced over RM2,000 lower now – it was previously going for RM24,090.
Based on the first generation Axia, the Axia E features the same 1KR-VE 1.0L three-cylinder VVT-i engine found in the newer Axia, which outputs 67hp and 91Nm of torque. This is paired to a five-speed manual transmission, and it’s the only Axia you can get with a manual. It also has a quoted fuel efficiency of 22.5km/l (ECE mode).
Given the affordable nature of the Axia E, it does omit some creature comforts. It doesn’t have a head unit, speakers, remote locking, or safety features like Vehicle Stability Control (VSC), ABS, EBD, BA, and Traction Control (TRC). It does, however, feature two airbags, and it has a four-star ASEAN NCAP safety rating.
To recap, the Perodua Axia E is priced at only RM22,000, and Perodua expects to sell about 1,500 units of the A-segment hatchback every month. Three colour options are available: Ivory White, Glittering Silver, and Granite Grey, a new colour option for the variant.
