June 12, 2023 Andrew Cheng

Honda just opened bookings for its first small SUV here in Malaysia, the Honda WR-V. Just as promised, the Japanese carmaker will be launching the new model sometime in Q3 2023, and public previews of the SUV will start from 16 June this Friday at selected dealerships.

The first preview of the WR-V is between 16 to 18 June in the southern region; more specifically, Seremban, Johor Bahru, and Pontian. This is followed by the northern region (23 – 25 June), central region (30 June – 2 July), and finally, the east coast (7 – 9 July).

Once the public previews have concluded, there’s a good chance the compact SUV will be officially launched in July 2023 itself.

Aside from the WR-V’s public preview, several key specifications of the SUV have been revealed too. It’s said to come with a 1.5L DOHC i-VTEC engine that outputs 121PS and 145Nm of torque paired to a CVT, support for the Honda Connect telematics system, 17-inch dual-tone alloy wheels (for the RS model), Honda LaneWatch, and even Honda Sensing.

It’s worth noting that the WR-V will be getting a rather complete Honda Sensing advanced driver assistance systems. These include Lead Car Departure Notification (LCDN), Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC), Collision Mitigation Braking System (CMBS), Forward Collision Warning (FCW), Lane Keep Assist System (LKAS), Road Departure Mitigation (RDM), Lane Departure Warning (LDW), and Auto High Beam (AHB).

The Honda WR-V is now available for booking in Malaysia at all 101 authorised Honda dealerships nationwide. Alternatively, you can also place a pre-booking of the SUV online here, or through the HondaTouch app as well – you can download it from the Apple App Store and Google Play Store.
