After many, many years, HyperX finally launched a successor to its highly popular Cloud II gaming headphones. Aptly dubbed HyperX Cloud III, we managed to try out the new gaming headphones back at Computex 2023 last week, along with the new HyperX Cirro Buds Pro wireless earbuds.
Let’s start with the Cloud III. Compared to its predecessor, the new headphones has a brighter sound profile. The emphasised treble should be able to highlight in-game footsteps and voices better, making the gaming-centric headphones ideal for, well, gaming.
Besides that, the Cloud III seems to have more detail, but this comes at the expense of less bass; to our ears, anyway. Nonetheless, the headphones remain very comfortable with soft, plush earpads, and we love that the removable mic doesn’t have the sponge foam head anymore, which had a tendency to fray after some time.
We were told that a wireless version of the Cloud III is in the pipeline too, so expect a Cloud III Wireless (?) to be available sometime in the future.
As for the Cirro Buds Pro, it sounds…decent. It’s not a particularly resolving pair of wireless earbuds, and it sounds a tad thin to our liking. But to the Cirro Buds Pro’s credit, it’s quite feature-packed, boasting noise cancelling, up to 35 hours of battery life – when paired with the charging case – Bluetooth 5.2 connectivity, and a game mode that lowers latency to 90ms.
The HyperX Cloud III is now available for purchase in Malaysia for RM399, while the HyperX Cirro Buds Pro will be launched at a later date. We’ll find out then just how much the wireless earbuds will be priced at.
