Photo Essay: We Visited INPAD, a Custom Keyboard Store in Taipei, Taiwan!
June 7, 2023 Andrew Cheng

While we were in Taiwan for Computex 2023, we were exploring the city when we came across INPAD, a custom keyboard store in Taipei. Not only does it carry a huge selection of keyboard parts, the retailer also has several popular custom keyboards on display.

Needless to say, we thoroughly enjoyed our time at the store, given that there aren’t that many custom keyboard stores like INPAD here in Malaysia. Nonetheless, here’s what the outlet looks like, along with the various keyboards, keyboard parts, and a number of other products the retailer carries.

What immediately caught our attention when we walked into INPAD is its collection of custom keyboards. These include the Mode Envoy – we really like this keyboard’s sound profile – Meletrix Zoom75, and Cub Studio’s Cub65, which we recently reviewed.

Naturally, you can put the keyboards through their paces in a typing test with the provided PC nearby. INPAD also runs groupbuy for these keyboards for the Taiwanese market, so it makes sense for the retailer to feature them in its store. We imagine folks who want to try out a specific keyboard before joining the groupbuy would love this.

Of course, a number of more readily available keyboards can also be found at INPAD. Whether you want a Glorious or Ducky model, the store has a wide selection of keyboards to choose from. There are even switch testers throughout the retail space for customers to try out.

Speaking of which, INPAD has a very respectable selection of switches from various brands, new and old. The usual suspects are Gateron, Kailh, SP-Star, and Cherry. What surprised us quite a bit is the fact that INPAD already has the Geon Black switch in stock too.

And then we have the slew of keyboard parts INPAD carries. We saw TX stabilisers neatly organised on a shelf, several intriguing keycap sets – such as Wuque Studio’s GR Irish keycaps – various switch springs, and even deskmats.

Beyond keyboard specific-products, INPAD has a number of other PC peripherals too. In fact, when you first walk into the store, you’ll see various headphones and mice on the store shelves first. Even some PC parts are available here.

If you’re a keyboard hobbyist – and you’re ever in Taipei, Taiwan – it’s definitely worth visiting INPAD. The store is located at Zhongshan District, and we look forward to our next visit!
