Mac Studio & Mac Pro Refreshed With New M2 Ultra Chip – From RM9,499 in Malaysia
June 6, 2023 Andrew Cheng

Apple’s Mac Studio and Mac Pro have just been refreshed with the Cupertino company’s fast M2 chips. The Mac Studio is configurable with both the M2 Max and (brand new) M2 Ultra chips, while the Mac Pro is only offered with the M2 Ultra SoC. With these two product updates, the Mac’s transition to Apple’s own silicone is now complete.

Pricing wise, the new M2-powered Mac Studio now starts at RM9,499 for the M2 Max model with 32GB memory and a 512GB SSD. If you want the faster M2 Ultra variant instead, the base configuration will set you back RM18,999, which features 64GB memory and a 1TB SSD.

As for the Mac Pro, the tower form factor starts at RM32,999, while the rack version retails from RM34,999.

Beyond the M2 Ultra chip upgrade – which is said to be Apple’s largest and most capable SoC ever – it’s worth noting that the Mac Pro features some big upgrades internally. It now comes with six PCIe Gen 4 slots and eight built-in Thunderbolt ports; six on the back, another two on top of the machine.

While the Malaysian pricing of the M2-powered Mac Studio and Mac Pro has been announced, it remains to be seen exactly when the two Macs will arrive on our shores. We’ll be sure to keep a close eye on the local availability of the new Mac Studio and Mac Pro.
