The Sony Xperia 1 V is here, and it promises even better camera performance over its predecessor. According to Sony, the new flagship phone features a next-gen sensor with next-gen imaging, allowing it to take low light images “never thought possible on a smartphone,” as the company puts it.

A triple camera system is on the back of the Xperia 1 V, which is made up of a 52MP primary sensor, a 12MP ultra-wide angle shooter, and a 12MP telephoto lens. According to Sony, the new 52MP shooter allows the phone to capture “2x better” low light shots than last year’s Xperia 1 IV.

Other specifications of the Xperia 1 V include a 6.5-inch 4K HDR OLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset paired with up to 16GB RAM and 512GB expandable storage, a 12MP selfie camera, a 5,000mAh battery, as well as IP65/68 water and dust resistance.

The Sony Xperia 1 V will start shipping sometime in late June next month, and it’s set to retail from 1,399 euro (about RM6,835) in European markets. No word yet on the Malaysian availability of Sony’s latest flagship phone, though we reckon Sony Malaysia will bring the phone here in due time.
