At the ongoing Malaysia Autoshow 2023, Perodua showed off a rather interesting concept. The Perodua EMO – which stands for Electric Motion Online – is an EV that looks strikingly similar to the Myvi, and it’s a glimpse of what Perodua’s electrified future could look like.
Despite being a concept product, Perodua actually gave a rather detailed spec sheet of the EMO. It’s said to be a B-segment hatchback that measures 3,895mm long, 1,735mm wide, and 1,515mm tall with a wheelbase of 2,500mm. These are (not surprisingly) the exact same dimensions as the latest Myvi.

Aside from that, the EMO concept is also said to offer 95PS and 121Nm of torque, allowing it to do the century sprint in 10 seconds with a top speed of 160kmph. It comes with a 50kWh battery that promises between 300km to 350km of range as well, along with support for fast 300kW DC charging that takes only 20 minutes to reach 80% battery level.
It’ll be a while before the Perodua EMO concept becomes a consumer-ready product (if ever), but its outlined features do make for a compelling EV for the right price. If you’d like to check out the EMO in person, check out Perodua’s booth at the Malaysia Autoshow until 7 May 2023.
