Monster Hunter Now Is Niantic’s New Game – Coming September 2023 on iOS & Android
April 19, 2023 Andrew Cheng

The developer behind the hugely successful Pokemon Go mobile game, Niantic, just announced its new title: Monster Hunter Now. Developed in partnership with Capcom itself, the mobile game looks to be a location-based AR game, just like Pokemon Go.

Naturally, Monster Hunter Now will be free to play with in-app purchases. While the gameplay mechanics have not been detailed much, screenshots of the game do give us an idea. Material can be gathered from mining outcrops throughout the map, and monsters can be encountered in the wild too.

Of course, monster encounters will be a big part of Monster Hunter Now. It remains to be seen exactly how a battle will play out, though the maximum battle time is said to be limited to only 75 seconds. Nonetheless, the producer of the Monster Hunter series for Capcom, Ryozo Tsujimoto, said that the gameplay and hunting action of Monster Hunter will be honoured in the new mobile game.

Monster Hunter Now will arrive sometime in September 2023 on iOS and Android. The closed beta will begin from 25 April, and about 10,000 participants will be selected to give the game a try. You can sign up for the beta test right here.
