Asus ROG Phone 7 Series Official – 2 Variants, Vapour Chamber Cooling, Coming to Malaysia 10 May
April 13, 2023 Andrew Cheng

Asus just took the wraps off of its latest gaming smartphones, the Asus ROG Phone 7 and the Asus ROG Phone 7 Ultimate. For the most part, these two phones feature very similar hardware, though the Ultimate model does come with a rather unique cooling system.

Basically, there is a port on the back of the ROG Phone 7 Ultimate – dubbed AeroActive Portal – that opens up when it is connected to the bundled AeroActive Cooler 7. This allows for “nearly 1L of cold air per second” to be blown directly to the heat dissipation fins (in the vapour chamber) that are connected to the CPU.

Oh, it’s worth noting that the AeroActive Cooler 7 is also packed with a subwoofer now for improved bass response.

Aside from that, the ROG Phone 7 Ultimate, just like last year’s model, features a ROG Vision color PMOLED display on the back panel. It can show customisable graphics for various scenarios, including incoming calls, launching a game, or entering the phone’s high performance “X Mode.”

Beyond these differences, the ROG Phone 7 and ROG Phone 7 Ultimate have the same hardware. These include a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset, a 6.78-inch 2448 x 1080 AMOLED display with a 165Hz refresh rate, a triple camera system (50MP primary + 13MP ultra-wide + 8MP macro), a 32MP selfie camera, and a 6,000mAh battery with support for 65W fast charging.

The Asus ROG Phone 7 series is set to arrive in Malaysia on 10 May next month. We’ll find out then just how much the phone will go for on our shores. In the meantime, stay tuned to our hands-on of the ROG Phone 7!
