Perodua just revealed that it delivered even more cars in March 2023 compared to the previous month. With 32,179 units sold, the national carmaker’s Q1 2023 sales currently sit at an impressive 78,564 units.
Compared to the same period last year, where Perodua sold 61,624 units, the carmaker’s Q1 2023 sales is a respectable 27.5% uptick. However, the company added that it didn’t manage to fulfill a small number of PENJANA orders; bookings that were eligible for sales tax exemption.
But there is good news: Perodua will still honour the tax-free prices. “To these customers, we will honour the sales exempt amount guaranteed under the initiative and we apologise for the long wait,” said the president and CEO of Perodua, Dato’ Sri Zainal Abidin Ahmad. Certainly a great move on Perodua’s part.
The waiting period of Perodua models has improved quite a bit as well, though some models still have slightly longer wait. “Only particular models such as the Bezza, Axia, and Alza have a slightly longer waiting period based on their respective variants and colour,” said Zainal.
Now that the PENJANA deadline has passed, it’ll be interesting to see if Perodua can continue its impressive sales momentum. But given the popularity of its models, we reckon the national carmaker can achieve its 314,000 sales and 330,000 production targets for 2023.
