Also launched alongside the Redmi Note 12 Pro+ is the standard Redmi Note 12 and Redmi Note 12 5G. These two phone are quite a bit more affordable than the Pro model, and in the case of the Note 12 5G, it looks to be one of the first Qualcomm Snapdragon 4 Gen 1 phones in our local market.
Of the two phones, the Redmi Note 12 is the more affordable device with a RM699 starting price (6GB + 128GB), going up to RM799 for the 8GB + 128GB model. As for the Redmi Note 12 5G, it retails at RM1,099 for the sole 8GB + 256GB configuration.
It’s worth noting that the 6GB + 128GB variant of the Redmi Note 12 is only available online, and early birds can actually get it at a promo price of RM659 – that’s RM40 worth of discount.
Design wise, these two phones look quite similar to each other, and they both feature a 6.67-inch 1080p OLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate and a 5,000mAh battery (33W fast charging). That being said, they do have different chipsets and camera configurations.
The Redmi Note 12 5G, for one, is powered by the aforementioned Snapdragon 4 Gen 1 chipset with a triple camera system (48MP primary + 8MP ultra-wide + 2MP depth) and an 8MP selfie camera. As for the Redmi Note 12, it features a Snapdragon 685 SoC with a triple camera system (50MP + 8MP ultra-wide + 2MP macro) and a 13MP selfie camera.
The Redmi Note 12 and Redmi Note 12 5G will be available for pre-order in Malaysia from 6 to 13 April from RM699 and RM1,099 respectively. Every pre-order of either phones will also come with a Redmi Smart Band 2 worth RM149 for free.
