Acer looks to be launching a new gaming laptop in Malaysia soon, the Acer Nitro 16. Unveiled back at CES 2023 a few months back, the laptop can be configured with either AMD’s Ryzen 7000 series chips or Intel’s 13th gen processors, along with Nvidia’s new RTX 40 GPUs.

We spotted the Nitro 16 in our routine search through SIRIM’s database. The gaming laptop was registered with the certification body just today on 21 March under Acer Malaysia, suggesting that the Taiwanese company is gearing up to launch the Nitro 16 on our shores.

As mentioned, the Nitro 16 is configurable with either AMD’s Ryzen 7000 series chips or Intel’s 13th gen processors, though it remains to be seen if the Malaysian market with receive both options. Given that it’s also powered by the new RTX 40 series GPU – even if we don’t know which particular GPU it is getting – it should be a capable gaming laptop.

Other specifications of the Nitro 16 include a 16-inch WUXGA or WQXGA display with a 165Hz refresh rate, PCIe Gen 4 SSD, up to 32GB of DDR5 RAM, liquid metal thermal compound on the CPU, and a four-zone RGB keyboard.

No word yet from Acer Malaysia on the local availability of the Acer Nitro 16. But given that it’s been certified by SIRIM already, we reckon it’s only a matter of time before the gaming laptop arrives here.
