Perodua continues to record high sales this year. In the first two months of 2023, the national carmaker sold 46,385 units. Compared to the same period last year – where it sold 34,865 vehicles – the company sees a 33% uptick in sales; that’s quite an achievement.
Essentially, Perodua is selling almost as many cars as it can make. In January and February 2023, the company’s production sits at 51,134 units, an increase of 32% compared to last year’s output in the same timeframe (38,460 units).
According to Perodua, demand for its range of models remain healthy, and it is ramping up production to meet said demand. “The average waiting period as of 28 February is now between 2.5 months and 8 months…this timeframe is subject to the model, variant, and colour,” said the president and CEO of Perodua, Dato’ Sri Zainal Abidin Ahmad.
“We apologise to our customers and thank them for their patience. We will try to further improve our production and registrations in the months to come,” he added. With that in mind, if you’re waiting to take delivery of your new Perodua car – such as the recently launched 2023 Axia – rest assured the carmaker is doing its best to meet expectations.
