Now this is interesting: a new report claims that Proton could be giving the X50 and X70 a facelift sometime this year. It makes sense for the national carmaker to refresh the two models, especially the X50, which has not seen any major update since its introduction in 2020.

This bit of rumour came from Funtasticko. According to its source, the X70 will get a more major change than last year’s update, which introduced the X50‘s 1.5L turbo engine to the C-segment SUV. Funtasticko’s source claims that the X70 will see some exterior and interior updates, including a new grille, bumper, larger infotainment screen, and an updated gear knob.

As for the X50, no details have been revealed by Funtasticko’s source. Chances are, the B-segment SUV may receive some slight design changes, given that it is only a facelift. It should still soldier on with the same 1.5L engine that outputs 177PS and 255Nm of torque paired with a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission.

The same source also said that the facelifted Proton X70 is expected to debut sometime in June 2023, while the Proton X50 facelift will follow suit at a later date. Nonetheless, given that this is only a rumour, take these details with a grain of salt.
