Proton ends 2022 on a high note with 150,000 units produced at its two plants in Tanjung Malim and Shah Alam. According to the national carmaker, this is its highest production achievement yet since 2012 despite facing several issues throughout the year.
“2022 was a tough year to start with. Spillover effects from the floods of December 2021, continued parts supply issues, and import restrictions all conspired to depress our production numbers. But we did not give up in the face of adversity,” said Proton in a Facebook post.
With over 150,000 units produced, it’s possible Proton have achieved its sales target for 2022, which was also set at 150,000 units. Of course, that depends on whether or not the carmaker managed to register as many units; production output isn’t the same as total sales.
Nonetheless, we’ll find out once Proton is ready to share its 2022 sales report, which should be revealed very soon. We expect the national carmaker to release the report sometime this week.
