Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 4 – How Much Better Is the Battery Life?
October 11, 2022 Andrew Cheng

One of the biggest upgrades the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 4 received is…well, a bigger battery capacity. Thanks to its more generous 3,700mAh battery, the battery life of the foldable flip phone sees a notable improvement compared to its predecessor.

There’s no denying that battery life plays a big part in the overall user experience of any given smartphone; it doesn’t matter how fast or sleek a phone is if it can’t provide good enough battery life. So with that in mind, how much better is the battery life of the Z Flip 4 now? Let’s find out.

Last year’s Galaxy Z Flip 3 had a 3,300mAh battery, and in our review, we managed to get about four hours of screen on time with it. While this is just enough to get a day’s worth of use, it does struggle to last through the day if we throw in a couple sessions of gaming.

In contrast, the Galaxy Z Flip 4’s 3,700mAh battery – a 400mAh improvement over its predecessor – did manage to us get between four to five hours of screen on time. That extra hour may not sound like much, but it does go a long way in improving the overall user experience of the Flip 4.

It’s also impressive that the Z Flip 4 can deliver this level of battery life in a compact chassis and unique foldable form factor.

Previously, if we were to, say, play Genshin Impact on the Z Flip 3 an hour or so over the course of a typical day, it’s quite a challenge to get through the end of the day with enough battery left. But if we were to repeat the same usage pattern with the Z Flip 4, it’s definitely not as difficult to get a day of use out of it.

Beyond battery life, the Galaxy Z Flip 4 also delivers a slew of upgrades across the board. These include a faster Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chipset, an improved 12MP primary camera, and a slightly reworked design that is more ergonomically-friendly (flatter sides) with an improved hinge.
