Ford’s Malaysian distributor, Sime Darby Auto ConneXion (SDAC), launched the 2022 Ford Ranger Raptor in Malaysia. Touted as the most advanced Ranger ever, the Raptor for our market features a 3.0L twin-turbo EcoBoost V6 petrol engine that outputs a whopping 397PS and 583Nm of torque.
Only one variant of the Ranger Raptor is offered in Malaysia, and it starts at a cool RM259,888. This price is on-the-road without insurance for Peninsular Malaysia; it’s priced from RM263,388 in East Malaysia. Five colours are available: Code Orange, Absolute Black, Arctic White, Blue Lightning, and Conquer Grey.
For that kind of money, the new Ranger Raptor’s powerful engine is paired to a 10-speed automatic transmission. There’s also a “Baja” mode that keeps the engine’s turbochargers spinning for up to three seconds after backing off the throttle for faster resumption of acceleration.
Of course, the next-gen Ranger Raptor has a 4×4 electronic shift-on-the-fly (ESOF) system too. Drivers can switch between four settings: 2WD, 4WD Auto, 4WD HIGH and 4WD LOW. Aside from that. there are seven drive modes as well, including the aforementioned Baja, Normal, Sport, Slippery, Rock Crawl, Sand, and Mud/Ruts.
Oh, switching to these different drive modes will also adjust multiple elements of the Raptor. These include engine, transmission, ABS sensitivity and calibration, traction and stability controls, exhaust valve actuation, steering, throttle response, as well as the instrument cluster and centre touchscreen.
The 2022 Ford Ranger Raptor is now available for booking in Malaysia from RM259,888. It comes with a five-year or 160,000km warranty, whichever comes first. Customers can also opt for a two-year extended warranty with PremiumCare for a wider range of coverages.
