Xiaomi just launched its latest smartphones in Malaysia, the Xiaomi 12T and Xiaomi 12T Pro. Naturally, the latter is the more exciting device; after all, it’s touted by Xiaomi to be the first smartphone on our shores with a 200MP camera.
Before we get to the 12T Pro’s camera’s specifications, let’s talk prices first. The standard 12T (8GB + 256GB) is the more affordable device of the two with a RM1,999 price tag, while the higher-end 12T Pro costs RM2,699 and RM2,999 for the 8GB + 256GB and 12GB + 256GB models respectively.

Now let’s talk about the 12T Pro’s camera. The primary sensor is a 200MP shooter, which is touted as an industry-leading smartphone camera resolution that allows users to “capture crystal-clear photos with fine details at any moment.” Complementing that camera is an 8MP ultra-wide angle lens and a 2MP macro shooter.
Other specifications of the 12T Pro include a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chipset, a 6.67-inch 2712 x 1220 AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate, a 20MP selfie camera, a generous 5,000mAh battery with 120W fast charging, and MIUI 13 based on Android 12.
As for the regular 12T, it shares largely the same hardware as the Pro model, though it does have some distinct differences. Instead of a Qualcomm chip, the 12T is powered by a MediaTek Dimensity 8100-Ultra chipset. It doesn’t have the 12T Pro’s 200MP camera either – it features a more modest 108MP main shooter instead.

Both the Xiaomi 12T and Xiaomi 12T Pro are available for pre-order in Malaysia right now through Shopee and Lazada from RM1,999 and RM2,699 respectively. Those who place their pre-orders by 12 October will also get freebies worth up to RM1,236, including a Mi Watch (worth RM469).
