We finally got a first look at the upcoming live-action adaption of The Last of Us. Set to release sometime in 2023, the short trailer shows off several characters from the game, including Joel, Ellie, Bill, and even Joel’s daughter, Sarah.
Joel is played by Pedro Pascal, who is well-known for his roles in The Mandalorian, Game of Thrones, and even Kingsman: The Golden Circle. Ellie, on the other hand, is played by Bella Ramsey of Game of Thrones fame. Looking at the trailer below, the two characters seem to be represented quite well in HBO’s series.
Created by Craig Mazin, who is also the creator and writer of HBO’s Chernobyl, The Last of Us series looks to be a faithful adaption of the first game. It’s also worth noting that both Troy Baker and Ashley Johnson – the voices of Joel and Ellie respectively in the game – will be featured in the series as well.
It remains to be seen what characters the two of them will play in The Last of Us TV series, though they are confirmed to be carrying “major roles.” The series is expected to debut sometime in 2023 next year, and it’s worth noting that The Last of Us Part I (a remake of the first game) will be released on 2 September next month for the PS5.
