The thin and light 2022 Acer Swift 5 productivity laptop is now available in Malaysia. Powered by Intel’s latest 12th gen processors, the new Swift 5 also has a number of other improvements, including a larger, taller screen, and a trackpad made from recycled plastic.

Dubbed OceanGlass trackpad, this is the same one used in the Swift X. Despite the fact that the Swift 5’s trackpad is made out of recycled plastic, it still feels quite smooth to the touch. At least, that was the case with the Swift X.

Of course, the new Swift 5 also sports Intel’s latest 12th gen processors with Iris Xe integrated graphics. Three different variants of the laptop are offered in Malaysia, starting with the RM4,699 base model with a Core i5-1240P processor paired with 8GB of RAM, 512GB of PCIe NVMe SSD storage, and a 14-inch 1920 x 1200 IPS display.

A tier up is the Core i7-1260P configuration of the Swift 5 with more RAM and SSD at 16GB and 1TB respectively; this particular model is priced at RM5,999. As for the range-topping variant, it has the same hardware as the aforementioned model, but it swaps out the display for a higher resolution 2560 x 1600 IPS panel for RM6,599.

Other specifications of the Swift 5 include a 14.95mm slim chassis that tips the scales at 1.2kg, a fingerprint reader built into the power button, and up to 10 hours of battery life.

The 2022 Acer Swift 5 is now available for purchase in Malaysia from RM4,699. Those who purchase the laptop before 30 September will also get a number of freebies, including a sleeve case, a backpack, and RM120 worth of TNG eWallet credit. You can also get a RM100 discount if you get the Swift 5 at the Acer Day roadshow in Pavilion Bukit Jalil until 7 August 2022.
