Honda Malaysia Sold 39k Cars in 1H 2022 – On Track to Achieve 80k Annual Sales Target

Honda Malaysia recently revealed its sales performance for the first half of 2022. Between January to June this year, the Japanese carmaker sold over 39,000 cars; a 60% improvement compared to the same period in 2021.

Thanks to this impressive sales figure, Honda Malaysia said it is on track to achieve its 2022 sales target, which is set at 80,000 units. Given just how popular its range of models are – the 2022 HR-V alone, for one, received over 20,000 bookings – we reckon the carmaker may even exceed its target.

Not surprisingly, Honda’s top three best-selling cars are perennial names in their respective segments. The company’s most popular model (accounting for 39% of total sales) is none other than the City sedan, followed by the City Hatchback and Civic at 23% and 18% respectively.

“The positive acceptance of Honda models helped to boost our sales performance this year,” said the managing director and CEO of Honda Malaysia, Hironobu Yoshimura. “We saw high demand in
terms of bookings in the run up to the end of sales tax exemption on 30th June 2022, where
more than 105,000 bookings were received in the first six months this year,” he added.

It’s worth noting that Honda Malaysia promised to launch one more all-new model later this year, which is widely believed to be the 2022 Honda BR-V. Once the seven-seater MPV is unveiled on our shores, it’s likely the carmaker’s sales will see further improvement locally.
