2022 Ford Ranger Arrives in Malaysia – 6 Variants, RM109k to RM169k, Raptor in Q4 2022
July 22, 2022 Andrew Cheng

Ford’s Malaysian distributor, Sime Darby Auto ConneXion (SDAC), just launched the 2022 Ford Ranger in Malaysia. The new pickup truck is offered in six different variants, including the higher-end WildTrak model. The range-topping Ranger Raptor is also coming here, but only in Q4 2022.

First up, prices. The most affordable Ranger XL starts at RM108,888, while the XLT goes from RM124,888. Both of these models are offered with a 2.0L diesel engine in single turbo configuration that outputs 180PS and 405Nm of torque. 6-speed manual and automatic transmissions are offered for these two models.

And then we have the more powerful XLT Plus (from RM142,888) and WildTrak (from RM168,888) variants of the Ranger, which feature the same diesel engine, but with a bi-turbo system that puts out 210PS and 500Nm of torque. Instead of a 6-speed gearbox, the XLT Plus and Wildtrak gets a 10R80 10-speed automatic transmission.

Compared to its predecessor, the new Ranger features a number of distinct changes. There’s the reworked T6 platform for improved ride quality, an aggressive exterior, a more modern interior, as well as support for wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

Aside from that, the Ranger also gets a more complete advanced driver assist system, though only the Wildtrak gets it. These include adaptive cruise control with stop and go, cross traffic alert, reverse brake assist, and evasive steer assist. The WildTrak is also the only model to get a 360-degree camera.

The 2022 Ford Ranger is now available for viewing at Pavilion Bukit Jalil Exhibition Centre ahead of its showroom debut. You can check out the new pickup truck there until 24 July this Sunday, and although walk-ins registrations are welcomed, keep in mind that slots are limited.
