Proton had an eventful first half of 2022. In the first six months of the year, the national carmaker received over 150,000 bookings. This is a very respectable figure, and it’s likely further bolstered by buyers that want to take advantage of the sales tax exemption that ended last month.
Out of the 150,000 bookings, 34,017 of them consist of the Proton Saga. It is consistently one of Proton’s best-selling models, and last month alone, over 5,460 units of the sedan were sold. This makes it the best-selling A-segment sedan in June 2022.

Aside from that, Proton also revealed the booking numbers of the 2022 Proton X70 MC, which was introduced just last month. This makes the 10,985 bookings for the updated C-segment SUV all the more impressive within such a short span of time.
“June was a busy month for the automotive industry with most brands trying to produce as many cars as possible to satisfy market demand. The announcement that SST incentives would be removed on 1 July also created a surge in bookings as customers rushed to take advantage of the savings offered,” said the deputy CEO of Proton, Roslan Abdullah.
“Proton has received more than 150,000 bookings for the first six months of the year and when added to carry-over orders from 2021, we will need to work hard to deliver cars as quickly as possible to eager customers,” he added.
