Sony Bravia Core Movie Service Lands in Malaysia – 4K Blu-ray Streaming Quality
June 23, 2022 Andrew Cheng

At the Malaysian launch of the 2022 Sony Bravia XR TVs, the Japanese company also revealed the availability of the Sony Bravia Core movie service on our shores. One of the best selling points of Bravia Core is the fact that it promises 4K Blu-ray streaming quality.

Unlike other streaming services – which recommend as low as a 15Mbps connection for 4K streaming – Bravia Core can stream HDR movies at up to 80Mbps through a feature dubbed Pure Stream. Sony said this is similar to 4K Blu-ray quality, and it promises “significantly more detail, colour, and contrast than conventional 15 – 25Mbps streaming content.”

Of course, given that Bravia Core is a Sony service, it only offer movies under Sony Pictures. On top of that, only the latest 2022 Bravia XR TVs have access to the service in Malaysia, though every purchase of said TVs also come with a complimentary one-year subscription to Core, along with five movie credits to redeem selected movies such as Uncharted.

Once the one-year subscription has lapsed, users can renew their Sony Bravia Core subscription, though the Malaysian pricing of the service has not been revealed yet by Sony Malaysia. Nonetheless, this is certainly a nice perk to have for anyone that’s looking to get a new Sony Bravia TV.
