Honda Malaysia Recalls City, City Hatchback, HR-V, BR-V – 1,527 Units Affected
June 21, 2022 Andrew Cheng

If you own a 2021 Honda City, 2022 City Hatchback, 2020 HR-V, or a 2021 BR-V, it may be involved in Honda Malaysia’s recent product recall. This recall exercise involves over 1,527 units, and affected customers will be informed via notification letters.

There are actually two situations for this product recall. Situation A affects the 2021 City and 2022 City Hatchback, which involve inspection of the nut torque on the Alternating Current Generator (ACG). If it’s loose, it may cause poor contact terminal and battery malfunction.

As for Situation B – this one affects the 2020 HR-V and 2021 BR-V – it’s a recall to inspect “the tightening of bolt earth grounding that may lead to loose wire harness.” Similar to Situation A, this can result in poor contact terminal, which can cause the engine to halt while driving or unable to start the engine after the car stops.

Honda Malaysia apologises for the inconvenience caused, and the inspection, repair, and replacement of affected parts are (naturally) free of charge. The carmaker also assures customers that Honda models in production and on sale right now are not affected by this product recall.

Thankfully, no incidences of crashes or injuries caused by this issue have been reported in Malaysia.
