2022 Proton Saga MC2 Facelift Launched – Keyless Entry, New Interior, From RM34k to RM44k
May 12, 2022 Andrew Cheng

Proton has finally launched the 2022 Proton Saga MC2 facelift – MC2 stands for Minor Change 2, signifying that this is a minor upgrade over the 2019 facelift. While the updated A-segment sedan doesn’t get a new engine or a significant revision, it does offer some nice creature comforts now, including keyless entry and a new interior.

First up, prices. Four variants of the new Saga are offered: Standard MT (RM34,400), Standard AT (RM38,300), Premium AT (RM41,300), and the range-topping Premium S (RM44,300). These prices are on-the-road without insurance, and sales tax exemption is actually applied until 30 June 2022.

Naturally, the highest-end Premium S gets all the bells and whistles. These include the aforementioned keyless entry, push start button, semi-leather seats, red accents on the air-cond vents, a new 7-inch infotainment screen with iOS and Android mirroring, front bumper skirts, side skirts, as well as 15-inch alloy wheels.

Standard equipment across the range of the new Saga include two airbags, electronic stability control (ESC), hill hold assist, and the familiar 1.3L four-cylinder engine that outputs 95PS and 120Nm of torque. The Standard MT comes with a five-speed manual gearbox, while the other variants get a Hyundai-sourced four-speed automatic.

The 2022 Proton Saga MC2 facelift is now available for booking. Given that the sales tax exemption is ending on 30 June, we imagine folks who are looking to get this new Saga would want to get their order in quickly to take advantage of the lower prices.
