Drop has finally opened pre-orders for its new DCX keycaps. Available in three colourways (White-on-Black, Black-on-White, and Genesis) the new keycap profile – which looks to be very similar to GMK/Cherry’s – is offered with a $20 discount for a limited time.

Usually priced at $99 (about RM430), all three colourways of the DCX keycaps are now priced at only $79 (approximately RM345); that’s quite a hefty discount. Do note that this early bird pricing is only valid until 1 May 2022 at 5AM for us here in Malaysia.

Among the goals Drop set out for these DCX keycaps are “industry-leading legend tolerances,” keycaps that are free from exterior blemishes and imperfections, and a cylindrical profile. It’s worth noting that these characteristics are very similar to that of GMK keycaps, which are considered by many to be the “gold standard.”

But one important aspect where the Drop DCX keycaps differ quite a bit from GMK is waiting time. Set to ship as early as 21 June, that’s merely a two-month wait.
