The Vivo X80 series is set to arrive here in Malaysia next month on 8 May. Though it’s not stated explicitly in the teaser, the launch event should see the debut of the X80 and X80 Pro on our shores, and they’re packing some high-end hardware under the hood.
Let’s start with the higher-end phone of the two, the X80 Pro. Curiously, it’s offered with two chipset options: a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 or a MediaTek Dimensity 9000. Beyond the different processor, both versions share the same hardware.
These include a 6.78-inch 3200 x 1440 AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate, a quad camera system (50MP primary + 48MP ultra-wide angle + 12MP portrait + 8MP periscope telephoto), a 32MP selfie camera, an IP68 rating, and a 4,700mAh battery with 80W fast charging.
As for the more affordable X80, it has a more modest set of hardware. It features a Dimensity 9000 chipset, a 6.78-inch 2400 x 1080 AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate, a triple camera system (50MP primary + 12MP ultra-wide angle + 12MP portrait), a 32MP selfie shooter, and a 4,500mAh battery with 80W fast charging.
The Vivo X80 series will make its Malaysian debut on 8 May 2022; we’ll find out then just how much the X80 and X80 Pro will cost on our shores. For the sake of comparison, the two phones start at 3,699 Chinese yuan (about RM2,455) and 5,499 yuan (approximately RM3,650) respectively in China.
