It’s been a while since we’ve got information on the 2022 Proton Saga facelift. This time around, an image of the updated A-segment sedan in the middle of assembly leaked online, along with a document that (supposedly) confirms four variants of the new Saga, along with their specifications.
This image of the facelifted Saga being assembled was first posted by malaysia_cars_overseas on Instagram – though the original post has been taken down – and subsequently shared by Funtasticko. Among the changes we can see in the image include the new Infinite Weave grille, updated design for the alloy wheels, and seemingly smoked taillights.

As for the leaked document, it shows four variants of the 2022 Saga: Standard MT, Standard AT, Premium AT, and the range-topping Premium S AT. Naturally, the latter gets all the bells and whistles for the upcoming sedan, including keyless entry, push start button, semi-leather seats, and side skirts with a front bumper lip.
Given that the document doesn’t specify any changes to the engine, the updated Saga will likely soldier on with the same 1.3L four-cylinder engine that outputs 95hp and 120Nm of torque. It should still be mated to a four-speed automatic transmission that’s sourced from Hyundai as well.

No word yet from Proton on the launch of the 2022 Proton Saga facelift, though local automotive site Wapcar said that the new sedan will be launched sometime in May next month. We’ll just have to wait until then to see if the facelifted Saga will makes its debut.
