Oppo A96 Launched in Malaysia – RM1,299 for Snapdragon 680 & 256GB Storage
April 18, 2022 Andrew Cheng

Oppo just launched its latest mid-range phone in Malaysia, the Oppo A96. Sporting 256GB of internal storage – quite sizeable for a phone in this segment – the A96 is also a sleek-looking mid-ranger.

Only one variant of the A96 is offered for the Malaysian market. Featuring the aforementioned 256GB storage and 8GB of RAM, the A96 is priced at RM1,299 locally. This is a RM200 price increase over its predecessor, the Oppo A95, though the new phone does come with twice the amount of storage.

For that kind of money, the A96 is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 680 chipset. Even though this is a decidedly mid-range chip, it’s still able to provide a zippy user experience. Along with its 8GB of RAM, the A96 should be able to provide a pleasant user experience too.

Other specifications of the A96 include a 6.59-inch 1080p LTPS display with a 90Hz refresh rate, a dual camera system (50MP primary + 2MP bokeh), a 16MP selfie shooter, a sizeable 5,000mAh battery with support for 33W SuperVOOC charging, and ColorOS 11.1 based on Android 11 out of the box.

The Oppo A96 is now available for pre-order in Malaysia until 22 April. You can also get free gifts worth RM498 with every pre-order of the phone, including a slew of discount vouchers and an A96 gift box worth RM99, which include a power bank and an umbrella.
