2022 Volvo XC40 Recharge EV Launched in Malaysia – CKD, 418km Range, RM262k
April 4, 2022 Andrew Cheng

Volvo Car Malaysia (VCM) just launched the Volvo XC40 Recharge EV on our shores! Locally assembled (CKD) right here in Malaysia – making it the first-ever EV to be assembled locally – this is a fast SUV, and it is priced quite well too, especially in comparison to its competition.

For the Malaysian market, the XC40 Recharge EV is priced at RM262,460 with sales tax exemption applied until 30 June 2022. This puts it at a lower price point than the Mercedes-Benz EQA and only slightly higher over the range-topping Hyundai Ioniq 5. It also comes with a five-year warranty with five years of free service, while the battery gets an eight-year warranty.

The XC40 Recharge EV is Volvo’s first mass-produced electric SUV, and it’s packed with a number of interesting features. According to the carmaker, the SUV has an all-electric range of 418km on a single charge, thanks to its 78kWh battery.

As for charging time, the XC40 Recharge EV can be charged up to 80% in only 40 minutes with a 150kW DC charging station (under ideal conditions). When charging at home instead, a three-phase 11kW wallbox can fully charge the XC40 in about eight hours from completely empty.

In terms of performance, the XC40 Recharge EV can go from 0-100kmph in only 4.9 seconds. That’s right, the Malaysian market gets the AWD variant, which outputs 408PS and 660Nm of torque out of a dual-motor setup.

The Volvo XC40 Recharge EV is now available for booking in Malaysia. You can place your booking through VCM’s website, and a sales advisor will get in touch with you.
