Honda Malaysia Assembled 1 Million Cars in Malaysia – Civic RS Marks the 1 Millionth Unit
March 31, 2022 Andrew Cheng

Just last year, Honda Malaysia achieved one million sales on our shores. Fast forward to now, the Japanese carmaker is celebrating the rollout of its one millionth locally assembled (CKD) vehicle at the company’s manufacturing plant in Pegoh, Malacca.

The 2022 Honda Civic RS is the one millionth vehicle to be assembled at the plant, which started operating in January 2003. The first car manufactured at the plant then was the second generation Honda CR-V at the number one line. The second line was opened in October 2013 with the rollout of the Honda Jazz Hybrid.

With both production lines taken into account, Honda Malaysia is able to produce 100,000 units per year. Seven different models are also assembled at the Pegoh plant, including the all-new Civic, City, City Hatchback, Accord, BR-V, HR-V, and CR-V.

“It has been 20 years since Honda Malaysia’s establishment in the country. We have evolved and recorded significant achievements since then,” said the MD and CEO of Honda Malaysia, Madoka Chujo.

“In March 2021, we achieved the one millionth sale unit milestone with all Malaysians. Just one year later, I am now celebrating another significant milestone with all of you – the one millionth production unit; which is the All-New Civic,” she added.

For 2022, Honda Malaysia is set to introduce two all-new models. The carmaker did not reveal what these two models are, though there’s a good chance they are the 2022 Honda HR-V and Honda BR-V.
