Sony just revamped its PlayStation Plus subscription. Now split to three separate tiers, it also combines the PlayStation Now service to the membership. Essentially, this is the Japanese company’s long-rumoured answer to Microsoft’s Xbox Game Pass.

Here are the three new tiers for PS Plus: Essential (basically the original version), Extra, and Premium (Or Deluxe for certain markets). Essential needs no elaboration as it is the PS Plus membership we’re all familiar with, while Extra adds on a catalogue of up to 400 PS4 and PS5 games. Of course, these games will be downloadable.

Premium, on the other hand, offers up to 340 additional games, including PS3 games via cloud streaming, and a catalogue of classic games from the original PlayStation, PS2, and PSP. These will be offered in both streaming and download options.

The main component of PS Now that’s been absorbed to PS Plus lies in this Premium tier. In markets where PS Now is offered, gamers has cloud streaming access to PlayStation, PS2, PSP, and PS4 games that are offered in the Extra and Premium tiers.

Interestingly, you can even stream these games on your PS4, PS5, and PC. Time-limited game trials will also be available to PS Plus Premium subscribers, giving you the option to try selected games before buying them.

For markets that don’t have cloud streaming service – such as Malaysia – a Deluxe tier will be introduced instead at a lower price than Premium. It includes access to PlayStation, PS2, and PSP games to download and play; you also get time-limited game trials.

Now, pricing. For the Malaysian market, the Essential tier remains the same at RM29 monthly, RM69 quarterly, or RM159 yearly. Extra, on the other hand, costs RM44 monthly, RM114 quarterly, or RM269 yearly. As for the highest-tier Deluxe, it goes for RM50 monthly, RM130 quarterly, or RM309 yearly.
