MYNIC Berhad, an agency under the Communications and Multimedia Ministry (K-KOMM), just announced the Asia Pacific Domain Name System Forum 2022 (APAC DNS Forum). Done in collaboration with the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN), the forum is meant to discuss the domain name marketplace.
Naturally, the APAC DNS Forum is a virtual one, and 24 different countries have registered for the forum, including Malaysia. One of the main goals of the forum is to create collaboration opportunities (and knowledge sharing) between DNS communities in the Asian Pacific region.
Of course, it’s not only limited to industry experts; domain name and website owners can also participate in the forum to discuss various issues in the DNS industry.
The APAC DNS Forum is a continuation of six webinars that took place between September 2021 to March 2022 this month. The topics that were discussed include the current state of the DNS industry, search engine optimisation, the future of DNS, and of course, understanding the domain name system itself. You can still access these webinars right here.
“APAC DNS Forum 2022 reiterates the importance of DNS and domain names for the future. It is a unified platform for DNS practitioners from various backgrounds to equip, discuss, and share knowledge of the latest development in this industry,” said the Deputy Minister of Communications and Multimedia, Datuk Zahidi Zainul Abidin.
The CEO of MYNIC Berhad, Datuk Hasnul Fadhly Hasan, also spoke on the importance of DNS. “It remains a critical element to new network architectures and technologies in enabling devices to securely and reliably access the network.”
“With the emergence of new technologies such as 5G, DNS will transform network architecture design to support low latency for core network services, leading to an improvement in network safety and reliability for everyone,” he added.
MYNIC also extends its appreciation to GloComp (a Malaysian ICT solution provider with over 22 years of experience) and CentralNic (one of the world’s leading registry services companies) for their involvement and support as the gold sponsors for the APAC DNS Forum 2022.
