Nothing, founded by former OnePlus CEO Carl Pei, finally announced its first-ever smartphone; sort of. Though no images or hardware of the phone were released, we now know that the Nothing Phone 1 is set to be launched sometime in summer 2022 – that’s between June to September.

Aside from that, it’s also confirmed that the Phone 1 will be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon mobile platform. It’s not known yet if this means it’ll feature the flagship-tier Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chipset, though this is likely the case if the Phone 1 is positioned as a high-end device.

While details on the Phone 1 itself were scarce, Nothing did reveal the software that will be powering the device. Dubbed Nothing OS (of course), it is said to deliver a “fast, smooth, and personal experience.” The Android launcher seems to use Nothing’s signature dotted font as well.

Interestingly, users can actually give Nothing OS a try way before the Phone 1 is released. A launcher of the software will actually be available to download on selected smartphones next month in April, though these devices have not been revealed yet.

As for the Nothing Phone 1 itself, it will be introduced sometime in June to September 2022 in the summer. Evidently, Nothing is building anticipation for its first-ever smartphone.
