Samsung Malaysia just revealed the local pricing of its 2022 Galaxy A lineup, which consists of the Samsung Galaxy A33, Galaxy A53, and the highest-end device of the lot, the Galaxy A73. Compared to last year’s offerings, the new Galaxy A phones see quite a bit of a price increase.

Only one variant of each 2022 Galaxy A device is offered in Malaysia. The Galaxy A33 (8GB + 128GB) costs RM1,499, while the Galaxy A53 goes for RM1,849. The range-topping Galaxy A73, on the other hand, is priced at RM2,099.

One of the biggest upgrades to the updated Galaxy A devices is IP67 rating; all devices in the series now carry that rating. That’s right, even the most affordable Galaxy A33 has an IP67 water and dust resistance. It also features a Samsung Exynos 1280 chipset, a 6.4-inch 1080p Super AMOLED display with a 90Hz refresh rate, a quad camera system (48MP primary + 8MP ultra-wide angle + 2MP bokeh + 5MP macro), a 13MP selfie camera, and a 5,000mAh battery.

A tier up is the Galaxy A53. Just like the A33, it is powered by an Exynos 1280 chip with a 5,000mAh battery. The difference lies in the display, among other things. Not only does it have a slightly larger 6.5-inch 1080p Super AMOLED screen, it’s also a faster 120Hz panel.

The quad camera system of the Galaxy A53 is slightly different too. It’s made up of a 64MP primary shooter, a 12MP ultra-wide angle lens, a 5MP bokeh sensor, and a 5MP macro camera. On the front, it’s packed with a 32MP selfie shooter.

Last but not least is the Galaxy A73. As the range-topping (and biggest) device in the series, it’s packed with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 778G chipset and a 6.7-inch Full HD+ Super AMOLED screen. Naturally, it also has a 120Hz refresh rate, just like the A53.

Other specifications of the Galaxy A73 include a more sophisticated quad camera system (108MP primary + 12MP ultra-wide angle + 5MP bokeh + 5MP macro), a 32MP selfie camera, and of course, a 5,000mAh battery. It is the only phone in the series to be offered in the Awesome Mint colour as well.

Speaking of which, the 2022 Galaxy A series is offered in a multitude of colours, including Awesome Peach, Awesome Blue, Awesome White, and Awesome Black.

To recap, the Samsung Galaxy A73 retails at RM2,099 in Malaysia. If you want something more affordable, you’ve got the Galaxy A53 and Galaxy A33, which are priced at RM1,849 and RM1,499 respectively.
