Mac Studio Unveiled – Basically a Thicker Mac mini With New M1 Ultra Chip From $1,999
March 9, 2022 Andrew Cheng

Just as rumoured, Apple unveiled a brand new desktop for creative professionals, the Mac Studio. On the outside, it looks like a far thicker Mac mini, but it also packs some powerful hardware under the hood, including the all-new M1 Ultra chip.

Compared to the M1 found in the Mac mini, the new M1 Ultra is said to be “nearly” eight times faster, thanks to its 800Gbps memory bandwidth, a 20-core CPU (with 16 high performance cores), and a 64-core GPU. Needless to say, it is made for folks that need the absolute best level of performance.

Of course, if you don’t need the blazing fast M1 Ultra, the Mac Studio can still be configured with an M1 Max chip, which makes sense. After all, you can still get the Mac Studio that way without paying top dollar, especially if your workload doesn’t demand such a high level of performance.

The Mac Studio starts at $1,999 (about RM8,360) for the M1 Max model. If you want the more powerful M1 Ultra configuration, it retails from a cool $3,999 – that comes up to around RM16,725.
