Announced in China back in November last year, the Huawei MateBook E just made its global debut at Huawei’s Spring 2022 Smart Office launch. Even though it’s touted as Huawei’s first OLED laptop, it’s really a Windows tablet that can be connected to a keyboard case, much like Microsoft’s Surface Pro 8.

But unlike the Surface, the MateBook E relies on the keyboard case to be propped up; it doesn’t have a built-in kickstand like the former. Of course, once it is connected to said case, the MateBook E is similar to the Surface Pro 8 – in terms of form factor, anyway.

Under the hood of the MateBook E are Intel’s 11th generation Core processors – it maxes out at a Core i7-1160G7 chip – Iris Xe integrated graphics, a 12.6-inch 2560 x 1600 OLED screen, up to 16GB of RAM and 512GB SSD, a 13MP rear camera, an 8MP front-facing shooter, as well as support for the 2nd gen Huawei M-Pencil stylus.

No word yet on the Malaysian availability of the Huawei MateBook E, but given Huawei’s prominent presence here, we reckon it’s only a matter of time before the Windows tablet is officially sold locally.
